A Springfield Spring!

"We're here," our family of 6 six kiddos shout when we arrived in the state capitol of Illinois, Springfield. After leaving our house at 4:30 am to get to our destination by 8:00 am, we were so glad to finally arrive at the "X" on our treasure map.
Homeschoolers were gathering from across the state to make a difference. Over the course of three days, the homeschooling movement would thank the legislators of Illinois for protecting the freedoms we have today.
We enjoyed quite a few memorable attractions while touring Springfield. The acclaimed Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library was filled to the brim with education and fun facts, the perfect classroom for homeschoolers. The State Capitol building had a gorgeous glass dome, with the outside covered in pewter to give a silver-plated appearance. While taking a Prayer Walk inside the Capitol building, we had the privilege of standing inside the House of Representatives! Wow! What a miracle God gave us! As we stood inside the room where many critical decisions are made, we bowed in prayer for God's hand to show through the many men and women that would soon occupy that space.
I met many new friends at ICHE Legislative Days, and our family learned exactly how important politics are to our homeschooling agenda.
Barbie Dixon is the oldest of six children. She enjoys spending her free time practicing and teaching music. She also indulges in a good book quite often.
