Bernie & Linda are the founders of Great Commission Families, a Washington, D.C. area family ministry helping families "take steps of faith toward greater involvement in the Great Commission." Prior to Great Commission Families, Bernie & Linda were on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ for 23 years. Today, a big part of their ministry is creating family friendly evangelistic outings by giving Christian heritage tours in the D.C./Baltimore/Annapolis area, including at the local major Civil War battlefields (Gettysburg, Antietam, Manassas, Harpers Ferry & Monocacy).
The Beall's believe that every Christian family has three mission fields. The first is under their own roof, the second is where they already live by reaching out together as a family, the third is wherever in the world the Lord might take them, and the sequence is crucial! In addition, they are strong advocates for family missions. "Don't send your children, take your children!"
Bernie & Linda began homeschooling in 1989 and have homeschooled all four of their children, including two of them through college. After an amazing courtship experience, their oldest son married a wonderful young lady who has family roots in northern Illinois! The Beall’s now have four grandchildren and live in Brunswick, Maryland, not far from where Bernie grew up on his family's dairy farm.

Jeff and Melissa believe the family should reflect the biblical model of discipleship from one generation of believers to another. Jeff and Melissa serve on the leadership team of a local support group, HEART. Their involvement in HEART and in family ministries through their own church has given the Lewis family many opportunities to grow in their faith and to see God’s hand turning the hearts of parents toward their children year after year. His columns on home education appear regularly in the Washington Times, and he has been a guest on numerous television and radio programs, including Focus on the Family with Jim Dobson and Hannity and Colmes on Fox News. Karen Stoll has been homeschooling her five active youngsters since the first one began his venture into academics. Surprised to discover that her two sons did not want to sit down and listen and write and learn, Karen quickly concluded that this might not be quite as easy as she’d thought and her adventure began! She dug in enthusiastically, researched and tried out many methods and materials. Discovering that her boys responded well to fun and games, she began to create her own materials. Bubbling over with creativity, gifted with energy to match her children, and with talents blossoming all over, Karen rose to the occasion. Karen believes that homeschooling is educating her as much as it is her children and God is using this journey to refine her own weaknesses and reveal much about Himself. After meeting Joyce Herzog and working directly with her, it became clear that she was called and designed to carry on the vision Joyce had for developing products and ministering to homeschoolers. Karen, her wonderful husband Charlie and her five delightful children ranging from 3 to 11 years old with a wide range of strengths and struggles live in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

After studying several years toward an electrical engineering degree---which included taking a year of astronomy---Nathan changed his career direction to become a construction electrician. He worked at Fermilab doing new construction on high-energy particle accelerator experiments. One of these projects was the 5 million ton collider detector which was used to confirm the existence of the top quark in 1995, something Nathan remarks that Jesus knew about before man was created.
Even in his younger years Nathan was amazed at the intricacies of God’s world and how it worked. When he worked as a short-term missionary in Liberia West Africa for 1 ½ years, Nathan began sharing planetarium presentations at radio station ELWA with the missionaries and nationals.
Seven years ago, as a better bridge to share the glories of God to others, Nathan acquired his inflatable planetarium and began taking it around the Chicagoland area as a part of his science and astronomy presentations.

A desire to spend time with her family drove her commitment to being home and homeschooling her family. Though she has a BS in Education, coordinated a private homeschool independent study program, and shared homeschooling and parenting principles along the West Coast, Carolyn believes her best learning has come from God’s Truth and her five very unique children. Carolyn and her husband, Trevor, homeschooled their five children with four successfully tackling the college world and life beyond. Their youngest is still at home. Two grandchildren are just beginning to homeschool! Trevor and Carolyn reside in Louisville, Kentucky..

Extremely happily married since 1979, Bill and Diana Waring homeschooled their three children nearly twenty years. The now grown Waring kids were the proving grounds for all the concepts and encouragements Bill and Diana teach—real-life examples of the wonders of homeschooling!
Their mission is to serve families by encouraging, equipping, and educating in an entertaining way. Diana and Bill have spoken and written for the Christian homeschool and private school community for over 20 years. Through their business/ministry Diana Waring Presents, formerly Diana Waring-History Alive!, they have met and talked with homeschoolers in 46 states, half of Canada, and three other continents. The curriculum for world history study Diana wrote, beginning in 1994, has been growing and expanding. She is in the midst of a seven-year effort to update and expand the research and presentation of the material. She is well known for her rapid-fire history recordings and workshops, but is also appreciated for her workshops and books of homeschool encouragement, like Beyond Survival and Reaping the Harvest. Some of these fascinating concepts received emphasis while she was reading and being mentored concerning how students learn and how teachers can facilitate learning. They currently serve on the Board of Directors for Washington Association of Teaching Christian Homes
