'06 Young Adult Conference

Here are a few pictures from last year's conference. The photographer was having so much fun that he/she (name witheld to protect the guilty) forgot to get pictures of our speakers, the wild volleyball games, the pizza consumption and other important events!

This year we will strive for better photo journaling.

We began the day with singing and devotions.

From there we had the opportunity to meet everyone. What an interesting crowd! Everyone shared something unique about themselves or their family.

We had some folks who do clowning, breed and raise snakes, and juggle with fire. We had actors, missionaries, musicians, teachers, artists, farmers, seamstresses and business owners. One young person came whose family is living in France!

We had people who design web sites, network systems, and make movies. There were also those who choose to serve in their homes and church bodies as well as students doing distance learning for college. Wow, what a wealth of talent and interests that the Lord has placed in this group!

There was plenty of time for catching up, sharing and interacting with one another and the speakers.

After a pizza supper, we played some fast paced games.

Everyone changed tables every 15 minutes. Each table had a different game and you were always sitting with a few new people.

At the end of each round you figured your score and added it to your previous rounds.

After the game time, some folks visited while others played volley ball!

We also filmed some fun and hilarious interviews with those who were willing! Hopefully we"ll be able to post them here soon.

No one wanted to leave. We did have to go home though, when they turned out the lights and locked the doors!

Please join us again this year and bring a friend!

Young Adult Canoe Trip

ICHE sponsored an opportunity for home school families from around the state to exercise, splash each other, sweat, fall in the water, fight the current and fellowship while canoeing down the Fox River.

We had a wonderful turn out of young adults and their families!
More than 40 folks joined us on our 7 mile canoe trip.

Those of us who don't own a canoe were able to rent them. Some families brought their own!

Mothers and daughters attended!

Just look at those faces! We couldn't wait to get started.

This dad and daughter look ready for anything!

Our thanks to the Johnson family for all their planning!
Dave and his wife Bernetta are a part of ICHE's Advisory Board.

Keep going, you're almost there!

It really wasn't far to the launch site.

Off they all go into the raging river! Well . . . maybe not quite raging.

This was the first canoe to reach the ending point!

This group thought they were in Italy. Gondola ride, anyone?

A mother and daughter in an appropriately pretty canoe.

Three generations canoed together! What an encouragement to the rest of us.

We ended out the day with a picnic supper, time for talking, table games and soccer. A group got together a game of "4 Men on a Couch". Or should we say "4 people on a Picnic Table"?

There weren't enough for the usual guys against girls so it was the "Shoes" against the "Barefeet".

There was some serious competition going on!

The "Barefoot" team won.

Our thanks to all the families whose presence made the day so special!

Please consider joining us at the next ICHE sponsored Young Adult event on Saturday, November 10th 2007. John Stonestreet of Summit Ministries will be the featured speaker for the ICHE Fall Young Adult Conference. See the events page for details and registration. We hope to see you there!
